Mountain Driving

One of my familys favorite things to do is go for a ride in the mountains. There is just something that is serene about it. We drove up through immigration Canyon to East Canyon. On our drive up the Canyons we didn't see anything but beautiful mountains. On our way back home we saw 4 fawns and 2 does and we saw an owl. I have never seen a owl in the wild. At first I thought it was a fake owl. hee hee So I had Mike pull the car over to take a closer look at it. As I approached this animal, it suddenly turned its head all the way around.That was weird to see. Then I was completely blown away at the beauty of the animal. I snapped a picture while it was on the post, I tried to get a closer shot of it, but it lifted its wings and pooped right in front of me and flew across the street to a tree. Well that should teach me,but it doesn't. I crossed the street and went under the tree where is was hanging out and got a really pretty picture of it. My kids thought it was so cool to see a wild owl, fawn,(with their white spots still on) and the doe. I am excited to see what our next mountain drive will bring.

I was scanning through my camera and came upon these delightful pictures. Kids are so funny. I love the self portraits. ha ha Yes that is Amanda wearing my high heels, She runs in those...note to self don't race her in heels, she'll win. :) Cameron's buddy bear is the one stuffed animal that goes everywhere with him, I thought it was cute that he took a picture of him.

Mike's brother Andy was in town and took us boating. My kids totally loved it. It's been a long time since we have seen him. Once my kids were in the water it was hard to get them out. Then on the drive in Andy let Cameron drive the boat he really loved that. We sure miss you Andy, Thank you for taking us out. We had a blast. :)

As I was doing Mandy's hair she asked to do it like my hair, half pulled up. Okay, so I did. When I was done she kept turning her head from side to side as far as she could trying to look at herself in the mirror. I asked what she was doing, she said, "trying to look at the back of my hair." Oh, okay so I took out a little mirror and told her to use the little mirror to look in the big mirror. I turned her around and had her try it. She was moving the small mirror around, then stopped and started to giggle. I asked her why she was giggling. She said, "because I can see myself and I like my hair." Oh I love my kiddos.

Well alot has happened since Januaray. Amanda has finished her kinergarten year. That was so fun, her teacher threw a pizza party for the kids and their families. Cameron has sprouted up tall, he is more talkative then ever. Its funny. We moved out of my parents house YAY!! We live in Sandy now and love it here.Amanda is going to start at a new school she is a little nervous but has very quickly made some friends in the neighborhood. So she will do great. I am going to post some pictures of our fun times. :) oh and MY SISTER IS HAVING A BABY!! Congrats Mouse. :)

I have to thank Bryce and Kristine for taking us out...it has been so long since we had a grown up date. I have never been to a piano bar. It was so much fun! The pianists were amazing and hilarious, oh and of course watching all the older drunk people try to dance was pretty funny too...

well its been awhile since i have been on here. life has been very busy. i now work for a dental office in Draper, I love it there the dentist i work for is the best. Mike is well on his way to becoming an officer! we are very excited about that he has one more task to do before its official. :). Amanda is in Kindergarten, my how time flies. I can't believe she is in school. My little Cam is just so full of life sometimes i just have to sit back and laugh at the things he does.
Christmas was wonderful, I love how when the kids come upstairs to see the tree and presents under the tree they giggle with excitement. they tore through all the gifts and played all day. Mandy got some barbies, babies and a doll house she was extremely excited about that. Cam got some toy guns that he was eager to play "shoot" with opa and dad. :)

Mike is graduating from P.O.S.T.!!!

I am so proud of Mike for accomplishing his goal. He is graduating from Weber State Police Academy on Friday July 31.This is a career he has wanted for as long as I have been with him, Now he has the opportunity to do it. Congratulations love, I'm proud of you.

Mike has been in the police academy for two weeks and he totally loves it. He has learned some defensive tactics that he practices on yours truely. lol Its crazy, yesterday he told me to try to punch him in the face, as a little nervous as I was I did. It didn't take him long to have my hand in this crazy twist and on the ground. He's getting pretty good at taking me down. lol.
He has his first test on Monday about the amendments and some laws, He is nervous but I think he will do well.

Mike made it into P.O.S.T.! I am so proud of him. He will star school April 6 at 7:45 a.m. and will be done around August 7. I am very excited for him.

update on police academy

Just wanted to thank those for the congrats they left on steph's facebook page, im not necessarily in the clear yet- registering for post just means now i have to pass a very extensive background test and another round of physical tests, i didnt have much time to prep for this round like i did for sandy, so i dont expect to pass as well as i did at the sandy tests, but im confident. after that i have 5 months of training- classes are from 8 to 5 during the week and then i work from 6 to midnight, which is a voluntary cut in work hours, so we get to look forward to no time with the family except weekends and a smaller paycheck- it will definatly test us. then i can only pray the economy picks up enough that the job market will produce a few more open positions. but like i said, im confident and this is the opportunity i've been waiting for.

Mike is finally getting into the P.O.S.T. program at Weber State. :)
DWFS has given Mike the grant that will pay for post which is about $4800. Whooo hoo thank heavens for grants. He is already registered for class and the physical testing is on the 28th of this month and class begins on April 6th. (which also happens to be my moms birthday) so that will be a good day. The course runs 5 months and covers both moduels..

Module 1 - Special Functions Officer/Basic Corrections Officer (SFO/BCO) Curriculum provides training for certification as a Special Functions Officer/Auxiliary Officer and Corrections Officer.

Module 2 - Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) Curriculum provides the remaining training necessary for certification of an officer with full police powers. [Entry requirements for Module 2 include certification as a Corrections, or Special Functions Officer (completion of Module 1 - SFO/BCO)]

We are very excited that Weber State is offering the combine class. If we went to any other school it would take 10 months.

building a snowman

Today was so much FUN!!! Mandy had a bug all day to build a snowman. The snow was wet and heavy...perfect for a snowman.

So of course momma starts it...

Amanda shows dad her contrabution to the snowman and she starts to pack it on. all the while she was trying to get mommy with a sn owball.

this is our snowman...not quite finished though. we added hair...Close up of his awesome hair that mandy did.

now what snowman would be a snowman with out ears??? Duh MOM!!!

Now that our snowman is complete with hair, ears, a scarf and buttons down the front. Amanda is a happy girl. I love her

We have decided to move up to Sunset. We found a cute little 2 bed apartment across the freeway from HAFB. It's been an experience to move with two kids, Amanda is so excited to help carry stuff in and put things away. She is such a good little helper. Cameron is into everything. He enjoys the unpacking the boxes to throw things on the ground and laugh.

We decided to move up here because I lost my job at Arrowhead about 3 weeks ago. I wanted to be close to Mindy, I love it up here, Its quiet..except for the humm of the freeway traffic. :)

Mike is still at UPS. We are hoping he is going to get into Weber State this fall so he can complete the POST certification in about 4 months. They only have sign ups twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall. Since we are self paying (about $5,000 just to sign in) we are aiming for fall.

I love those little thing kids do that touch you to your soul.
My little Camo was playing on the couch next to me when out of the blue he comes over to me and grabs my face and gives me the sweetest little kiss and gave me a hug. It made me think with all the stresses that go on in life, this one little innocent act brought me back to realize whats important.
Thank you my sweet little guy. I love you

I am so excited for my mike. He has passed another part of the hiring process for Sandy City Police. I think he only has one more thing to do and if all goes as planned my love will be a cop by the end of the year.
